Evidence-led investigation

WHAT WE KNOW

The scheme is for 49 council homes. Westridge entered administration and Cheesmur subsequently took over completion work. Published material identified remediation issues, an additional £1,112,967 Housing Revenue Account approval and a £2.4 million Homes England grant.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING

What is the final expected cost? What work required remediation and why? What financial exposure arose from the contractor failure? What checks were made before and during the original contract?

INFORMATION REQUEST

WATCH sent an information request on 27 August 2026 seeking the underlying records needed to establish the full chronology and cost.

CURRENT POSITION

The project should not be judged solely from headline figures. WATCH will publish the documentary trail and distinguish additional approved budget, grant funding and actual final expenditure when the records are available.

EVIDENCE STANDARD
WATCH distinguishes established facts from allegations, questions and inference. Where information is outstanding, this page says so. Findings will be updated when documentary evidence or a substantive response changes the position.
