ABOUT

What WATCH Sussex Network is, how it works and the standards behind its investigations.

WE INVESTIGATE

We examine political decisions, spending, promises and accountability.

WE PUBLISH EVIDENCE

Requests, documents and records. Facts are separated from allegations.

WE SEEK ANSWERS

Meaningful right of reply before substantial adverse findings.

TIP-OFF LINE

A tip is a lead, not proof.

INDEPENDENT

WATCH Sussex Network is a citizen-led political accountability project and is not affiliated with any political party, council, public authority or elected representative.

NON-PARTY

Claims should be assessed against evidence regardless of who made them. Credit is due when the evidence supports it.

COMMUNITY FIRST

Our focus is accountability that matters to residents across Sussex.

RIGHT OF REPLY

People and organisations criticised by a substantial finding should have a meaningful opportunity to respond.

A free, voluntary project

WATCH Sussex Network is a free, not-for-profit accountability project. There is no money involved and no plan to introduce donations, paid subscriptions, sponsorship or fundraising.

Our work follows the remit of four specialist pages: Adur district decisions, West Sussex county services, Sussex mayoral and devolution matters, and the parliamentary representation of East Worthing & Shoreham. Stories involving other bodies are covered where they materially affect that remit.

We distinguish established facts, attributed claims and unanswered questions. We give credit where the evidence supports it and provide a route for replies and corrections.

OUR LONG-TERM DIRECTION

Follow power, public money, decisions, promises and outcomes — not personalities.

WATCH Sussex aims to build a long-term institutional record: who proposed a decision, who approved it, who controlled the money, which officers delivered it, who scrutinised it, what was promised and what eventually happened. Strong performance and effective scrutiny receive Credit Where Due; criticism must be proportionate to the evidence.
