Three projects: what the council contract register tells us
The September register adds contract detail to WATCH's Albion Street, Montague Gardens and Southwick empty-homes investigations.
Contract values, not final bills
Adur and Worthing Councils' September 2026 contract register lists the following entries. Its value column is labelled excluding VAT. The dates below are the register's dates, not confirmation of completion.
| Project / registered supplier | Recorded value, excluding VAT | Recorded dates |
|---|---|---|
| Albion Street new-build completion contract J Cheesmur and Sons (Lewes) Limited | £1,739,438 | 2 April–16 August 2024; extension expiry 31 October 2024 |
| Montague Place Gardens Edburton Contractors Ltd | £1,689,585.65 | 14 July 2025–15 May 2026 |
| Adur Homes: Southwick Voids Ecosafe Heating Limited | £1,200,000 | 15 June–15 December 2026; extension expiry 14 December 2027 |
All three entries record an invitation-to-tender process. That describes the register entry; it does not establish how many bids were received or how they were evaluated.
Albion Street: the completion contract is one part of the cost
The £1.739m entry provides a specific contract reference point for the continuing investigation. It is not the scheme's total cost or the later remediation bill. The council's project page records further weatherproofing and design problems in July 2026 and preparatory remedial work in August. The register alone cannot establish responsibility for those defects.

Montague Gardens: a works contract is not the whole programme
The Edburton entry identifies a contractor and recorded value for Montague Place Gardens. It does not provide a complete account of design fees, earlier works, variations or all other project expenditure. WATCH will reconcile those categories against the council's cost records before reaching a value-for-money conclusion.
Southwick empty homes: one supplier's contract
The £1.2m Ecosafe entry is specifically labelled Southwick Voids. It should not be treated as the combined value of every supplier's work. An extension-expiry field also does not prove that an extension has been exercised. The next evidence needed is actual expenditure, completed work and the dates homes were re-let.

What this establishes
These records make the contract trail more specific. They do not establish overspending, misconduct or final project costs. WATCH is continuing the existing investigations and will assess substantive responses alongside the documentary evidence.
