MP WATCH · SUSSEX-WIDE COMPARISON
WHO'S DOING THE WORK?
A transparent activity dashboard for the 17 Sussex MPs. It measures what Parliament actually publishes — and explicitly refuses to invent physical-attendance or constituency-attendance figures that do not exist as a complete official dataset.
Representation check · 29 September 2026: This dashboard covers 17 Sussex constituencies and MPs. The activity counts below are the 5 September 2026 snapshot, so they are cumulative through that cut-off and must not be read as figures measured today. The VFM assessment is a separately dated 6 September evidence review.
Check current MP representation with Parliament ↗ Activity baseline — 5 September 2026. This is the first public baseline. Written questions, Hansard contribution entries and recorded division votes are sourced from UK Parliament member records. Committee attendance is being verified meeting-by-meeting before it is ranked.
Written scrutiny leader
James MacCleary
586 written questions among the comparable 2024 first-time cohort.
Speaking leader
Jess Brown-Fuller
267 Hansard contribution entries among the comparable cohort.
Voting
No overall award yet.
Same-day verification is still being completed for every member before percentage-style ranking.
Attendance
No invented figures.
Physical Westminster/constituency presence cannot be established from a complete official attendance register.
Comparable cohort: first elected July 2024
These MPs entered the Commons at the same election, making their cumulative public records broadly comparable. Ministers are flagged because ministerial duties change how questions and Commons contributions work.
Experienced Sussex MPs
The Parliament member pages display career totals. Those totals are useful background but must not be ranked directly against MPs first elected in 2024. WATCH Sussex will add a 4 July 2024–present normalised view before publishing an experienced-MP league position.
Committee activity
Membership alone is not attendance. We will score committee activity only where minutes, attendance lists or equivalent primary records show that an MP attended. The Works of Art Committee strand concerning Tom Rutland remains part of this verification work.
What we will not claim
There is no complete public turnstile-style register showing how many days every MP physically entered Westminster, and no official register of days spent in each constituency. Social-media posts are not an attendance register. We may publish a separately labelled publicly evidenced constituency activity measure later, but not pretend it is physical attendance.
How to read the numbers
* Parliament says its contribution counts can be approximate. A "contribution entry" can represent a debate containing one or more speeches, interventions, questions, supplementary questions, points of order or — for ministers — answers. Recorded voting totals also do not explain why a member did not vote in a particular division. Absence, abstention, pairing, constituency work, ministerial work or other reasons may apply.
Source key: Q = written questions · H = Hansard spoken contributions · V = voting record.
VFM — VALIDATED ALL-17 AUDIT
The earlier Tom Rutland-only 11-MP output/cost comparison and interim VFM model are historical only. WATCH Sussex now publishes one constituency-first 35/25/25/15 assessment across all 17 Sussex MPs.
